As with most legacy applications documentation is non-existent or incomplete. Database migration at times requires reverse engineering to study the existing schemas - upto the field level, creating documents to plug missing information and adequately validate information through multiple methods before it is assumed correct. After the migration sufficient testing is required to do ensure customer impact is kept at a minimum.
