OTTO has been a leading worldwide manufacturer of quality headwear for over 50 years based out of California, USA.  Their mission is to provide their customers with the finest cap and apparel products for the embroidery, imprinting, uniforms, sportswear and promotional products industry, while always providing competitive pricing and excellent service.

Large inventories of OTTO caps and apparel are shipped from the three distribution centers located in California, Texas, and Georgia.

Project Brief

Ottocap has a large list of distributors and mainly all the orders were placed in Magento1. Ottocap had a vision to develop custom features and migrate into Magento 2 where customers and authorized distributors can place the orders directly.

The order must be synced with ERP for further order fulfillment. With this objective, it was decided to develop the B2B ecommerce portal using Magento Commerce Edition.

Key business needs and challenges moving over to Magento 2

The objective was to provide a web interface where the distributor and customer can place the orders directly.

Also, this is a controlled B2B business model, there is always a need to have customer specific price and performance which was a major challenge.

They also wanted to have split order functionality based on nearest warehouse where customer can get their product quickly.

They needed different payment options, offline and custom online methods, manage the inventory, allow the user to add multiple products to the cart with specific price etc.

Solution

We have developed the B2B Ecommerce Portal using Magento 2.1.8 Commerce edition. 3rd party extensions were used and custom development was also done. Here are some of the key modules .

Customer registration with personal and company

There are configurable products and due to that we faced performance issues. We did some customization such that it will load all the swatches/child products faster
Customer can add multiple products to the cart and pricing will be applied based on the quantity
Customer can view different colors in the layered navigation
filter
There is customization in the shipping rate calculation based on product box size
Customer can add multiple products to the cart and based on the product availability at the nearest warehouse, the order will split into different orders
Product data, order data and customer data is synced with third party ERP system on daily basis

Benefits

The B2B ecommerce portal is helping customers and distributors to place online orders from any device like Mobile, Tablets and Computers as this is a responsive portal

Online portal is attracting dealers to place bulk orders with different styles. B2B customers can place custom orders (by providing more detail in the comment box)

Ottocap team offers clearance and best deal sections where customer get the benefits of the clearance sales and discounted offers

Ottocap team provided a dedicated help center for dealer to get help related to create online store, Customer Service, FAQs, Artwork Requirements, Marketing Tools, payment methods, shipping methods etc.

Customers can add/create multiple wish list. Customer can get the product from the nearest warehouses based on the shipping address

Customer can pay using credit and they can also save credit card details for future payments
